Elektra named best scenography 2022 by Oper! magazine

Elektra by Richard Strauss, directed by Ulrich Rasche, named best scenography 2022 by Oper! magazine.
On 27 February, the magazine Oper! awarded the Oper! AWARD for the best scenography of the year 2022 to Ulrich Rasche for the production Elektra by Richard Strauss, which premiered at the GTG in January 2022. At the Grand Théâtre de Genève, Ulrich Rasche set in motion the vengeful workings of Richard Strauss’ opera Elektra, supported by Jonathan Nott at the helm of the OSR. This was the first foray into the world of opera and into French-speaking territories for the German-language theatre’s favourite director, who created a visual production of dizzying mechanics.
The Oper! AWARDS are newly created awards, presented annually at a gala event to the best actors on the international opera scene, both on stage and behind the scenes. The prizes are awarded in 20 categories by a jury of music journalists. This is not to be confused with the prizes awarded by the German monthly magazine Opernwelt, which are awarded on a seasonal basis and which have already awarded the GTG twice, in 2020 and 2022.
